He made his Bollywood debut with Hulchal in 1971 and from there on it’s been nearly five decades that Kabir Bedi has been entertaining us actively in Bollywood, be it with his performances in movies as an actor or with his baritone voice in ad commercials and dubbed movies. The New Year is quite special for Bedi who’s celebrating a landmark birthday today. The senior actor turns 75! On the special occasion, Bedi shares a piece of news, exclusively with us, which has been quite close to his heart.
He says, “I always wanted to write a book on my life. And I am glad to say that it’s in process. I will be sharing most important stories of my life through the book and it should be launched this year.”
Meanwhile on his birthday today, the actor is having a gala time meeting and greeting his loved ones. “Well, one can’t have big celebrations in times of Covid. So, I am just having intimate lunch and dinner sessions with close bunch of friends. Since a few days I have been hosting these fun sessions in small groups at an open air Italian restaurant by the sea in Mumbai. Big celebrations are out, so lots of mini celebrations this year (smiles).” And who’s on the guest list? “I don’t want to give away any names. I have many friends in the industry and I don’t want to offend someone by not naming them. So, basically these are the people from my theatre and advertising days from South Mumbai and also people from the film fraternity. People who are almost like family to me.”
At these special events, the actor enjoys having conversations with his buddies. “I have hosted my birthday bashes in Rome, London, LA and other parts of the world. I don’t believe in hosting theme parties. I don’t do marching bands or dancing girls on these occasions (laughs!). I believe in intimate meetings and interacting with people at human level. I enjoy reconnecting with my long lost buddies,” he says.
