A robust stock market with favorable valuations and pricing is fueling a surge in initial public offerings (IPOs), reaching multi-year highs. Merchant bankers predict this bullish trend will continue for several months. Promoters and private equity players are capitalizing on this opportunity to take their companies public, resulting in a flourishing IPO landscape. This sustained momentum is attracting investors and businesses alike, offering promising growth prospects in the primary market.
So far in the current fiscal, 166 companies have gone public through IPOs, compared to 164 in the previous full year. In the last 10 years, the highest such new public offerings were in 2017-18 when 188 companies had gone public, data showed. These numbers include large companies, which list on the main board of the bourses, and SMEs.
