KOLKATA: An Air India flight experienced a bird hit while flying Mumbai to Kolkata on Monday, slightly bending the right engine blade.
The dent was noticed shortly before the flight was about to take off for Mumbai with 123 passengers around 9.40am during a pre- embarkation check by the engineering team of the airline. However, after a thorough inspection and immediate repairs, the passengers flew out in the same aircraft around 1pm.
The Airbus A 320 had flown into Kolkata airport from Mumbai at 8.20am with 117 passengers and 6 crew members. When the slight deformity in the right wing was noticed, passengers had already boarded the flight for onward journey to Mumbai.
However, the passengers were deboarded and made to wait at the airport as the flight was taken to the apron for a safety check.
