A New York grand jury voted to indict former President Donald Trump in connection with a hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election.
Soon after the indictment news breaking, the former US president hit out at the jury’s decision and called it “Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history.”
The 76-year-old Republican would become the first former or sitting president to be charged with a crime — upending the 2024 White House race in which Trump is running to regain office.

Donald Trump slammed the indictment as “political persecution and election interference,” raging against prosecutors and his Democratic opponents and vowing that it would backfire on his successor, President Joe Biden.
Donald Trump’s lawyer had previously said that if he was indicted then his team would “follow normal procedures”. It is expected that the former President would likely surrender.

In a tweet, Stormy Daniels thanked people for the “support and love” extended to her. “I have so many messages coming in that I can’t respond…also don’t want to spill my champagne#Teamstormy merch/autograph orders are pouring in, too! Thank you for that as well but allow a few extra days for shipment,” she tweeted.
In a five-paragraph statement released within minutes of the indictment news breaking, Trump vowed to take revenge as he plots to return to the White House in the 2024 election.
The lawyer for porn star Stormy Daniels said Thursday that the indictment of former president Donald Trump shows that “no one is above the law.”
“The indictment of Donald Trump is no cause for joy,” Clark Brewster tweeted. “Now let truth and justice prevail.”
