Samvardhinee Nyas, a wing of Rashtra Sevika Samiti, the women’s section of the RSS, has started a campaign titled ‘Garbha Sanskar’ (pregnancy culture), under which gynaecologists will reach out to pregnant women and teach them how to adopt practices that ensure the child learns about Indian culture even before birth.
On Sunday, the body held an event at Jawaharlal Nehru University, where several gynaecologists assembled to learn about the exercise.
‘With garbha sanskar, even DNA of child can be changed in womb’
A workshop by Samvardhinee Nyas, a wing of Rashtra Sevika Samiti, saw the participation of 70-80 doctors, mostly gynaecologists and ayurveda doctors, from 12 states on Sunday. JNU vice-chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, the chief guest, didn’t turn up.
“Garbha se hi sanskar laana hai (culture needs to be inculcated in the pregnancy phase itself). The child needs to be taught that the country is the priority,” said Madhuri Marathe, national organising secretary of Samvardhinee Nyas.
She cited the example of Jija Bai, the mother of Shivaji, and how she had prayed to give birth to a leader. She insisted that women should pray like her so that the child possesses the qualities of Hindu rulers.
Dr Rama Jayasunder, head, NMR department of AIIMS, stated that there was an increasing trend of children born with disabilities and autism to parents who belonged to “comfortable economic strata”.
“It makes us wonder what is going wrong in pregnancy. ‘Garbha sanskar’ starts even before pregnancy. The minute a couple thinks of a child, the role of ayurveda comes into play,” she said.
The members also noted that as part of “womb cleansing”, a woman should read Sanskrit and do Gita Paath during pregnancy. They claimed that if ‘garbha sanskar’ was performed properly, then even the DNA of the child could be changed in the womb.
“Physical health is, of course, important, but purification of the womb and a positive environment are much needed. Our target is to deliver 1,000 such garbha sanskar children every year in this country. This initiative is meant to restore the old glory of India. There is too much crime in the country. We see children murdering their parents, turning into rapists. Mothers will be happy if they give birth to children like Lord Ram, who are duty-bound towards parents and save the country too,” said Dr Rajani Mittal, co-convener of the body.
The members also touched on the LGBTQ topic and stated that gender expectations during pregnancy was the reason why children nowadays were homosexual.
“If the mother already has a son as her firstborn and expects her second-born to be a girl, but gives birth to a boy, then the child could grow up to be homosexual,” said Dr Shweta Dangre.
