The colourful and vibrant festival of Holi is being celebrated across the country. As one of the most important Hindu festivals in India, Holi marks the end of winter and is a two-day-long festivity. This year, Holi is being celebrated on March 25 and Holika Dahan was celebrated a day before.

Stepping up security, the Delhi Traffic Police has deployed 400 traffic personnel across major roads in the city to crack down on drunk driving during the Holi celebrations.
Following this, authorities conducted rigorous checks at the ITO intersection in the national capital. Motorists and drivers found lacking essential vehicle papers, failing to wear helmets, or neglecting seat belt usage were promptly issued challans (fines) by the vigilant police officers.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda celebrated Holi at his residence in the national capital on Monday.
“Best wishes to all of you on the holy festival of enthusiasm, joy and happiness, Holi. I wish that this holy festival of colours fills everyone’s life with mutual love, harmony and goodwill,” Nadda posted on X.
Indian Embassy in US extended its greetings for Holi, wishing everyone a joyous celebration resplendent with colors and music.
“Holi in the heart of Washington DC @DuPont circle – a joyous celebration resplendent with the colours, music and culture of India! In India, Holi marks the arrival of spring – this year, it coincides with the cherry blossoms weekend in DC! We wish all of you a Happy Holi!,” Indian Embassy in the US said on X.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is in Ahmedabad as part of a Holi celebration programme called this year’s Holi special for Lord Ram devotees across the world as Raghuvir (Ram) is playing Holi in Ayodhya.
“Today, the entire country is celebrating Holi. My greetings to all citizens of the country…For Lord Ram devotees across the world, this is a special Holi…Today Raghuvir is playing Holi in Awadh. It is a matter of great joy for us,” he said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah wished for the speedy recovery of the people, who sustained burns in a fire that broke out during the Bhasma Aarti at the sanctum sanctorum of Ujjain’s Mahakal temple on Monday morning.
Taking to X, the Union Home Minister informed that he spoke to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav in light of the incident, adding that all necessary assistance was being provided to the injured.

At least 14 priests were injured after a fire broke out at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain on Monday, officials said.
The fire occurred during the bhasma aarti inside the sanctum sanctorum of the temple on the occassion of Holi. As gulal was being thrown to celebrate Holi, some of it fell on the puja thali that contained burning camphor. The camphor fell on the floor and the fire spread, eyewitnesses said

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed ‘Rudrabhishek’ at Gorakhnath temple in Gorakhpur on the occasion of Holi on Monday.
“Hearty congratulations and best wishes to the people of the state on Holi, the great festival of colour, enthusiasm, love, joy and social harmony! I wish that your lives be filled with various colours of happiness and that society be drenched in the soulful colours of happiness, peace and goodwill,” CM Yogi posted on X.
The Delhi Traffic Police will be deploying special teams across major road intersections to check drunk driving and red-light jumping on Holi.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi Traffic) Prashant Gautam said they have made elaborate arrangements so that the festival of colours is celebrated safely and peacefully.
“In the New Delhi range, they have deployed around 400 traffic police personnel at 61 traffic points and around 40 joint pickets with local police. Besides regulating the traffic, the focus will be on drunken driving, triple riding, without helmet and without seat belt driving,” he said.
According to an advisory issued by police, a strict watch will be kept on road violations, including speeding, triple-riding, and zig-zag driving.
“Special checking teams will be deployed at major intersections, drinking points and vulnerable points for the Holi celebrations to detect and prosecute traffic violations.
